The Do-It-Yourself Guide is based upon a combination of publicly available NYPD application instructions, our direct communications with NYPD licensing division personnel, and our experience with successfully navigating through the application process for clients. Indeed, while the NYPD provides some instructions for completing the application, some of the instructions are outdated and misleading—often leaving applicants confused about the requirements and next steps. This confusion can sometimes lead to unnecessary months-long delays in the application process.
